The Extraordinary Russian MC

The charming and quick-witted Very Old Queen Bananita Sluginsky, Sarah Ulerick, is the first Russian-Western-American S.L.U.G. Queen. In her spare time, she is Dean of Science at Lane Community College (sans her Russian accent) and a perennial favorite as emcee for the Queen’s annual coronations.

“Being S.L.U.G. Queen is a gig that keeps on giving”, Queen Bananita said.

“My personal highlights have been taking my Slug Queen act to the 25th and the 35th reunions of my Harvard-Radcliffe class of 1973”. At the 25th reunion, she performed with friend and classmate Al Franken (of Saturday Night Live fame) dancing a six-minute “Riverdance” while “zinging one-liners in a Russian accent.” Al did not dance. At the 35th reunion in 2008, she stole the show, as emcee. She mesmerized the Harvard alums and spouses with her grace, wit, singing and dancing. As she likes to sing, “A little more me, a little less you.”

Queen Bananita is a prime example of the hyper (and under estimated) intelligence of the gastropod. She earned a PhD in Science Education while in Texas, which she found to be extraordinarily hot for slugs.

To aspiring gastropods Queen Bananita reminds hopefuls that in selecting a new Queen, the Old Queens consider “whether we’ll be able to live with this person for a long time. They have to be willing to contribute energy to Queendom and the community for years to come.”

Her new motto is “So many Queens, so little stage.”
