The Silver Jubilee queen

Queen Glo (also known to Eugenians as Comedienne Leigh Anne Jasheway and to UO Students as the grammar police) was coronated by the Old Queens in August 2007, as our Silver Jubilee Queen.

Queen Glo, a humor author and speaker and former KOPT radio personality, won the judges over with a monologue poking fun of everything Eugene, from field burning to political quips. Her favorite aspect of the competition? BRIBERY! “Bribe early, and bribe often” is her motto if you’re planning to run for queen.

In the many, many, many years since Queen Glo ascended to the throne, she has used her position to support many community causes, including animal welfare and rights, which is closest to her heart. You can always find her royally sliming animals at the EUG Parade Pet Promenade, emceeing the parade, emceeing Greenhill Humane Society’s Bark in the Park, and even running down the street in heels and a tiara trying to rescue escaped dogs. Don’t worry, her neighbors are used to it.

Queen Glo’s glorious reign has brought the tradition of SLUG Queen into the next quarter century with a flourish of events:

  • Green Hill Animal Shelter Fund Raiser Ball
  • Slug Queens Get Out the Vote

Queen Glo, aka Glorious Gastropause, aka comedian Leigh Anne Jasheway, was coronated by the Old Queens in August 2007, as our Silver Jubilee Queen. Queen Glo, a humor writer, stand-up and improv comic, humorous motivational speaker and radio personality, won the judges over with a stand-up set poking fun of everything Eugene, from field burning to political quips. It didn’t hurt that she brought her hunky Secret Service squad with her, as well as a fine waitstaff who served peach cobbler and sweet iced tea.

Catch Queen Glo at one of her many upcoming talks or performances as listed on her website, The Accidental Comic.
